Why Whitney?,” she asked.

“I’ll ponder that and get back to you,” I answered.

The question had come in response to an article I had written where I mentioned a conference we hosted in February 2012 called “The Fullness of Time.” Kim Clement prophesied that a shift would take place in February 2012 and that there would be a public death – and everyone would know about it – and it would mark the beginning of a seven year period. Whitney Houston died on February 11, 2012, during that conference and Paul Cain died seven years later on February 12, 2019. I believe that Paul’s passing (on the exact date the Latter Rain Revival began in 1948) marked the beginning of a new season.

As I write this, the headline in today’s news is about Houston getting over 600% more rain than usual in early May. I believe it is another sign as the theme for that conference was about restoring what they had in the Latter Rain Revival.

Ask the Lord for rain in the time of the latter rain. (Zechariah 10:1)

As fate would have it, I was on a long flight soon after the question “Why Whitney?” was posed to me. I saw that one of the movies being offered on the flight was a documentary about her life. I learned that Whitney Houston broke more music industry records than any other female singer in history. The documentary allowed me to see the pain and unhealed trauma that ended Whitney’s life at age 48. Whitney drowned in a hotel bathtub after using cocaine. Three years later, her daughter (Bobbi Kristina) was also found drowned in a bathtub and drugs were suspected in her death.

After the 2012 conference, I began to focus my attention on helping people release toxic emotions that were rooted in childhood trauma. I observed that we often re-create our childhood trauma and I definitely saw that pattern with Whitney and her daughter. “Perhaps this was the reason her death was highlighted?,” I wondered.

We hosted a conference on April 18, 2010, with Paul Cain that was called “The Luke 4:18 Mandate.” Luke 4:18 is about healing the brokenhearted and setting the captives free. Even though Paul Cain and Whitney Houston were both Christians with extraordinary gifts and fame, they were brokenhearted and needed to be set free. Their lives were marked by addiction, loneliness, pain, and public scandal.

After sharing my thoughts with the person who originally asked me the question “Why Whitney?,” she shared the reason why she believed Whitney’s death was highlighted in the prophetic word. She believes that the African-American voice will be the voice releasing revival in the land. I have been pondering that ever since and I feel an affirmation for numerous reasons.

When the heavens opened in Coeur d’Alene in 2006, it was after a Native- American man danced in his regalia at our “It’s Time” conference to a song about unity. Bob Jones prophesied that the heavens opened when he danced and that there would be a sign in the heavens to confirm it. On Pentecost weekend that year, a fire rainbow appeared over our city that made international news. We experienced supernatural signs and wonders afterwards.

At “The Fullness of Time” conference in February 2012, we had several Native-American dancers from different tribes dance in their regalia. (It was during this conference that Whitney Houston died.)

Like Native-Americans and African-Americans, the Children of Israel were oppressed and enslaved. God sent Moses as a deliverer with a message from God: “Let my people go, so that they may worship me.” (Exodus 9:1).

Although Moses led the people out of Egypt, they wandered for 40 years and it was Joshua who led them into the Promised Land. In the Bible, the first battle under Joshua’s leadership was won when God instructed them to carry the Ark of the Covenant around the city of Jericho and they released a sound and the walls came tumbling down.

The Ark of the Covenant represents the presence and glory of God. The first thing King David did when he came to power was to recover the ark.

And let us bring the ark of our God back to us, for we have not inquired of it since the days of Saul. (1 Chronicles 13:3)

Years ago, the prophet Bob Jones saw a vision of the apostolic ministry coming forth. He saw young people carrying the Ark of the Covenant to Arrowhead Stadium. Bob prophesied about a great end-time revival led by young people marked by purity and power. Paul Cain had reoccurring visions of stadiums being filled and prophesied about a great end-time revival taking place that was marked by purity and power. Like Moses, they both passed without seeing the fulfillment of the promise in their lifetimes.

I believe that just as God gave strategy to Joshua on possessing the land, similar strategy is being given to leaders today. First, we need to inquire of the Lord and bring back the ark (the Presence and Glory of God). Strategy will be released on healing generational trauma and pain. (This will include strategy for healing the land and the wounds of African-Americans and Native-Americans.) Young people will be empowered and stadiums will be filled.

And, I believe a sound will be released. It will be the sound of revival!

Revolution means “sudden momentous change.” It can also mean “the overthrow of one government for another.

Mike Bickle (Director of the International House of Prayer in Kansas City) was in Cairo, Egypt, in 1982, when he heard an internal audible voice say: “I (God) will change the understanding and expression of Christianity in the earth in one generation.”

Mike said that he knew instinctively that this change had to do with the way unbelievers perceived the Church. Today, more than ever, unbelievers perceive the Church as hateful, intolerant, hypocritical, and irrelevant. I believe that in order for that to change, there has to be a new government of love established in both the Church and in the Nation.

In the Bible, King David was a type of the new government of love.

“A new government of love will be established in the venerable David tradition.” (Isaiah 16:5 Message)

There is a big contrast between the government of King Saul and the government of King David.

The war between the house of Saul and the house of David lasted a long time. David grew stronger and stronger, while the house of Saul grew weaker and weaker. (2 Samuel 3:1)

David made mistakes but he modeled true humility. Saul, on the other hand, was arrogant and prideful. For example, when the prophet Nathan confronted David with his sin, he quickly repented and asked for forgiveness. When Saul was confronted with his sin, he lied and covered it up. King David was kind and King Saul was cruel and often threw spears at David. David was “a man after God’s heart” and was obedient while Saul, on the other hand, cared more about what the people thought and was disobedient.

Henry Nouwen wrote: “Most Christian leadership is exercised by people who do not know how to develop healthy, intimate relationships and have opted for power and control instead. Many Christian empire-builders have been people unable to give and receive love.”

Many in the Church follow leaders and elect those to political office who are like King Saul. I agree with this quote by Dr. Gabor Mate: “The flaws of our leaders perfectly mirror the emotional underdevelopment of the society that elevates them to power.”

In the following passage, Shebna, who was the second in command, was fired for misusing his authority and for building a monument to himself. Eliakim, who was a servant and a father, was promoted and given the key of David.

“I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David; what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.” (Isaiah 22:22)

Eliakim’s name means “God will rise up.” God said He would change the understanding and expression of Christianity in one generation.

We have entered a new season where I believe that those who have been serving out of selfish ambition, and who have been building monuments to themselves, will be removed from their positions and will not have governmental authority. The new government that God is raising up will be humble and will model mature love.

In a world of hate, love is the revolution!

“It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.” ~ King Solomon (Proverbs 25:2)

I believe there are mysteries that can only be understood by understanding the Biblical festivals and festival language.

“Counting the Omer” is done the forty-nine days between the Biblical Festivals of Passover and Shavuot (Pentecost). (Counting of the Omer 2019 began the evening of April 20 and will end the evening of June 8.)

You shall count for yourselves — from the day after the Shabbat, from the day when you bring the Omer of the waving — seven Shabbats, they shall be complete. Until the day after the seventh sabbath you shall count, fifty days… (Leviticus 23:15-16)

On the Festival of Firstfruits (Aviv 17) the priests would wave a sheaf of grain (known as an omer) before the Lord. This was waved in different directions to demonstrate God’s all-encompassing presence. (Jesus was resurrected on the Festival of Firstfruits.)

After the Temple in Jerusalem was destroyed in 70 C.E., the Omer wave offering was no longer observed. However, the practice of counting the Omer continued and is still observed by many Jews today. There is a prescribed ritual for counting the Omer. Each evening of the 49 day period, a special blessing is recited, a psalm is read, and there is a special prayer.

The Counting of the Omer links the Deliverance of the Children of Israel from Egypt and the Giving of the Law on Mount Sinai. (These dates parallel Jesus’ death and resurrection and Pentecost approximately 1400 years later.)

After leaving Egypt on Passover, the Children of Israel went through the Red Sea on Aviv 17 and then traveled 47 days to Mt. Sinai, where God told them to consecrate themselves because He would speak to them in three days. The entire people (estimated at two to three million) heard God speak on that mountain. He didn’t just appear to Moses in private. It was a national revelation. It is written that the whole world heard in their own language!

Pentecost (Acts 2) occurred on the same date approximately 1,400 years later. In Greek, Pentecost means “50,” which can represent liberty, freedom, or deliverance. Every 50th year in Israel was called the “Year of Jubilee.” Slaves were set free and debts were cancelled. Liberty was proclaimed throughout the land by the sound of the Jubilee trumpets. (Leviticus 25:8-17)

After the Resurrection, Jesus appeared to His disciples for 40 days, speaking to them of the things pertaining to the Kingdom of God. After 40 days, He ascended back to the Father. Ten days later, the disciples were together in the upper room when the “Day of Pentecost” was fully come. We see many parallels to what happened on Mt. Sinai and what happened on Pentecost. At both occasions, on Sinai and in Jerusalem, there were similar supernatural manifestations: a mighty rushing wind, tongues of fire, and everyone heard the message in their own language.

A New Covenant

After the Giving of the Law, the Bible states that 3,000 of the Children of Israel were slain for their sin of worshipping the golden calf. (Exodus 32:28) After Pentecost, Peter preached the gospel and 3,000 were saved. (Acts 2:38-41)

He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant – not of the letter, but of the Spirit; for THE LETTER KILLS, but the SPIRIT GIVES LIFE. (2 Corinthians 3:6)

The Lord declares that He will make a New Covenant with the House of Israel and He will put the law in their minds and write it on their hearts. (Jeremiah 31:31-33) The ministry that Jesus received is superior to the old as it is founded on better promises. We are told in Hebrews 8:6-13, that the first covenant has now been made obsolete. The dictionary definition of obsolete is “no longer in use.”

In Galatians 4, the Apostle Paul likens the two covenants to Abraham’s two sons, Ishmael and Isaac. Ishmael was born by the slave woman, Hagar, and is likened to Mount Sinai and the Old Covenant. Isaac was born by the free woman, Sarah, and is likened to the New Jerusalem and the New Covenant. Isaac, the child of promise and representative of the New Covenant, was born at the “set time” on the same date that both covenants were given! (Genesis 17:21; The Book of Jubilees 16:1318)

Another mystery!

Modern Day Celebration

The Omer is counted every evening from the second night of Passover until the night before Shavuot. Approximately thirty minutes after sundown, the one who is counting the Omer recites this blessing: Baruch atah A-donai E-loheinu Melekh Ha-olam asher kid’shanu b’mitzvotav v’tzivanu al S’firat Ha-omer. (Translation: “Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the Universe, Who has sanctified us with His commandments and commanded us to count the Omer.”) Then he or she states the Omer-count in terms of both total days and weeks and days.

It is possible to make or purchase an “Omer-counter.” They range from decorative boxes with an interior scroll that shows each day’s count through a small opening; to posters in which each day’s count is recorded on a tear-off piece of paper; to calendars depicting all seven weeks and 49 days of the Omer. You can even get an “app” for your cell phone or computer!

Today the Festival of Shavuot is observed on the 6th of Sivan on the Hebraic calendar (May or June on our calendar.) The Jewish synagogue is decorated with greens and flowers because, according to tradition, the surrounding desert bloomed when God spoke at Mt. Sinai. Jews go to the synagogue to hear the reading of The Ten Commandments.

The Book of Ruth is also read publicly. According to Jewish history, King David was born and died on Shavuot and Ruth was his great-grandmother, who was a Gentile. The Book of Ruth is about the harvest.

On Shavuot, It is customary to stay up all night learning Torah (to atone for those who fell asleep at Sinai). Dairy foods are eaten, including ice cream, cheese blintzes, and cheesecake. There are different reasons for eating dairy foods. The numerical value for the Hebrew word for milk is 40 and it commemorates the 40 days that Moses spent on Sinai receiving the entire Torah. Also, the Promised Land was referred to as the land flowing with “milk and honey.”

A Very Important Lesson for Us Today

Lag B’Omer, is a Jewish holiday celebrated on the 33rd day of the Counting of the Omer. It is a minor holiday. The Talmud records that it was the day a cruel plague ended. In the first century, the highly revered Rabbi Akiva had 24,000 disciples that died during this period of time. The Talmud teaches they were guilty of a lack of unity and not treating one another with respect.

This gives a whole new meaning to developing a culture of honor!

In Israel, on this date, campfires are built and people roast potatoes and sing songs.

Why Should We Count These Days?

Just as a child often counts the days until a special occasion, we should be counting the days to show our excitement for the upcoming festival of Shavuot (Pentecost).

Historically, it was a time of rebirth corporately.

The 49 days of the Counting of the Omer are a time of cleansing and purification and a time to go to a higher level spiritually.

We must also heed and remember the lesson of what happened to Rabbi Akiva’s disciples. We must look deep within and repent of not treating one another with honor and respect. Many will be disqualified, I believe, from operating in substantial spiritual power if they do not heed this lesson. .

I’ve been on an exciting journey to understand the Biblical mysteries that have been sealed up until this time in history.

But you, Daniel, keep these words secret, and seal up the book until the time of the end. (Daniel 12:4)

I’ve found a key to unlock the mysteries and I want to share that key with you!

The key, I believe, is found in Leviticus 23. When we understand the Biblical festivals, it opens up revelation about end-time mysteries. The biblical term mystery refers to “a secret from the Lord.”

Your God is indeed the God of gods, the Lord of kings and a revealer of secrets. (Daniel 2:47)

There are mysteries that can only be understood by comprehending the Biblical festivals and the language and customs associated with each festival. These festivals were given to the Jewish people by God to teach on the First and Second Comings of our Messiah.

Jesus fulfilled the Spring festivals at His First Coming and He will fulfill the Fall festivals at His Second Coming.

God commanded the people, once they entered the Promised Land, to bring the firstfruits of their barley harvest as a wave offering before Him on that day. The people were forbidden to use any part of the harvest until after the firstfruits were offered to the Lord. Firstfruits were always the first and the best. When the Children of Israel entered the Promised Land, the manna ceased on the 16th day of Aviv. The day following, Aviv 17, they ate the firstfruits of the Promised Land. (Joshua 5:10-12)

Jesus was resurrected on that same date (Aviv 17).

But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the FIRSTFRUITS of those who have fallen asleep. (1 Corinthians 15:20)

Since the Temple was destroyed in 70 CE, firstfruits sacrifices and offerings are no longer offered the same way they were in ancient times.

Historically on Aviv 17, the Children of Israel crossed the Red Sea after leaving Egypt. The Egyptian army went into the Red Sea to attack the Children of Israel, but God caused the waters to drown the army and Pharaoh. Therefore, the Children of Israel emerged alive on the 17th, the same date as the resurrection. (This is also the same date Haman was hung in the book of Esther. The power of the resurrection defeats the enemy!)

Before the Children of Israel crossed the Red Sea, they secured the remains of Joseph on Aviv 15. (Exodus 13:19-20) An interesting parallel is that Jesus had been placed in the tomb of Joseph of Arimathea on Aviv 15. (Matthew 27:59-60)

And Joseph said to his brethren, “I am dying; but God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land to the land of which He swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.” Then Joseph took an oath from the Children of Israel, saying, “God will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones from here.” (Genesis 50:24-25)

Why did Joseph ask them to take his bones with them? Hebrews 11 states that Joseph by faith had given the commandment that they take his bones when they left Egypt. I think he was looking forward to the resurrection. I believe he longed to be a part of that which was yet to come and he made provision to have his bones taken to the Promised Land because he saw what would take place in the future.

Following the resurrection of Jesus, the graves of many of the saints were opened and they went into the city and appeared to many people! When, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many. (Matthew 27:51-53)

I wonder if Joseph was among those that were resurrected, along with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob? (Abraham had secured his burial place in a cave a few miles south of Jerusalem before his death. According to Genesis 49:29-31, Abraham’s cave at Machpelah was where Abraham and Sarah were buried, along with Isaac, Rebekah, Jacob and Leah.)

What became of those who were resurrected at that time is a mystery.

Our faith is founded upon the foundational truth of the resurrection.

And if Jesus is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! (1 Corinthians 15:17)

We must believe in our hearts that Jesus has risen from the dead in order to obtain salvation.

If you confess with your mouth Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim LIBERTY to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at LIBERTY those who are oppressed…” (Luke 4:18)

Paul Cain was a great healing evangelist during the Latter Rain Revival. He died on February 12 this year at age 89.

The Latter Rain Revival began on February 12, 1948. We hosted Paul Cain the first time on February 12, 2007.

At that conference, he laid hands on and commissioned a young man named Joshua, symbolic of Moses commissioning the Joshua generation to go in and possess the land. He died 12 years later on the exact date and I found out that it was the same date Moses died on the Hebraic calendar (Adar 7).

Before Paul came in 2007, I read that it was on February 12, 1989, that Paul had stood in John Wimber’s pulpit the first time and announced that he was the beginning of the “new breed.” Paul had been told that his mother would not die until he stood before a “new breed” of ministry. His mother, Anna Cain, died the next year at age 105!

When Anna Cain was 45 yrs old, she was pregnant with Paul. She had four terminal diseases in her body, (tuberculous, heart disease, both breasts were cancerous, and she had three tumors in her womb). A doctor, a renowned cancer researcher, sent her home and said she would not live to deliver the child. One night after midnight, the angel of the Lord appeared by her bedside and laid his hand on her shoulder saying, “Daughter be of good cheer, you will live and not die! The child you bear is a male child, you shall name him Paul and he shall preach the gospel as did the apostle Paul, binding up the sickness and infirmities of My people, and he shall stand before kings and rulers of nations.”

She was completely healed, and Paul was born shortly after and was nursed on breasts that just weeks before had been eaten with cancer. He did preach the gospel like the apostle Paul, and he saw many healings and he did stand before kings and rulers of nations. He often ministered in a high level word of knowledge gift. Paul had been told by his mother, who was also a prophetess, that she would give him a significant prophetic word before she died. She then went into a coma for two months. When she came out of the coma, she prophesied to Paul “Luke 4:18 for you Paul and for the world.”

She died on April 18 (4/18) at 4:18 pm after giving him the scripture Luke 4:18!

On April 18, 2000, I spoke at a conference in South Africa called “Moving into the Apostolic.” I told the story of Paul’s mother dying on that date.

In 2002/2003, there were three conferences that were said to be a trilogy in Oregon, Idaho, and Louisiana. The third conference was on April 18 and was hosted in Shreveport by Pastor Timothy Carscadden. It was called “Restoring the Voice of Healing.” The story of Anna Cain was told at that event also and it was Passover. (In the Bible, Moses led the Children of Israel out of Egypt on Passover; and Joshua led the Children of Israel into the Promised Land during the season of Passover 40 years later.)

On April 18, 2007, Timothy Carscadden and I were invited to speak at an apostolic conference in South Africa. It was the only “apostolic conference” I have ever spoke at. It centered on strategy to possess the land. It rocked my world! It was seven years after my first trip to South Africa where I had spoke at the “Moving into the Apostolic” conference, and the same date of the “Restoring the Voice of Healing” conference that Timothy had hosted four years prior. Again, I told the story of Anna Cain.

On April 18, 2010, we hosted Paul Cain for a conference we called “The Luke 4:18 Mandate.” It was exactly 20 years after his mother’s death.

Prior to the event, Paul’s assistant (Alex) had a dream where he went to a change machine and put in a ten dollar bill and out came seven coins (Sacagawea dollars). When he woke up from the dream, he was holding the coins in his hand! He heard the Holy Spirit say “The message is in the coin, call Kari Browning.”

I found out that Alex had the dream on the same date that Patrick Henry said “Give me LIBERTY or give me death,” prior to the commencement of the Revolutionary War. The coins had LIBERTY written in big letters on them. Before Paul Cain came on April 18, I found out that Paul Revere made his midnight ride on April 18 and the Revolutionary War began the next day. We were called Revolution Church at the time!

Alex had gone to a “change machine” in his dream. We hosted a conference two weeks prior to the April 18 event that we called “Changing Church.”

The change, I believe will come through the Luke 4:18 mandate. We are being equipped to set at LIBERTY those who are oppressed and those who are held captive. I believe we are in a season where we will possess the promises of God. We will see even greater things than what was experienced in the Latter Rain Revival!

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim LIBERTY to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at LIBERTY those who are oppressed…” (Luke 4:18)

The Season of Our Freedom

Kari BrowningBlog, Prophetic Words

Passover is known as the “The Season of our Freedom.”

It always begins on the evening of the 14th day of Aviv (also known as Nisan) on the Hebraic calendar, (which is Friday, April 19, this year on the Gregorian calendar). “The Lord’s Passover begins at twilight on the fourteenth day of the first month.” (Leviticus 23:5)

It commemorates the time when God raised up Moses as a deliverer, and the Children of Israel were delivered from their bondage in Egypt and were set free to go to the Promised Land.

What many don’t know is that Passover is when the Children of Israel arrived in Israel exactly 40 years later!

On the 10th of Aviv, just over a month after Moses died, Joshua led the people in crossing the Jordan River on their way to the Holy Land. The dream of eight generations was finally being fulfilled. On the 14th of Aviv, they celebrated Passover in the Promised Land!

Prior to Passover, on the 11th of Aviv, God commanded Joshua to personally circumcise all the Jewish males at Gilgal because they hadn’t been circumcised in the desert. After this had been accomplished, God said “Today, I’ve rolled away the disgrace of Egypt from you.” They were told to stay there until everyone was healed.

Passover is one of the most commonly observed Jewish holidays, even by otherwise non-religious Jews. Each year the Jewish people celebrate the first night of this holiday with a Seder meal. The word Seder means “set order” as there are 15 steps to the meal that follow a specific order. A traditional Seder can take four or five hours.

Everything in the Passover Seder points to Jesus, who celebrated the Seder with His disciples the evening before His crucifixion, which is commonly called “The Last Supper.”

For 1,500 years before Messiah’s First Coming, the ritual of slaying lambs at Passover was conducted. Jesus fulfilled every detail of the mo’ed (appointment) as He was our Passover lamb.

He was crucified on the EXACT day, month, and hour that the High Priest would slay the lamb in the Temple.

Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things…but with the precious blood of Jesus, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. (1 Peter 1:18-19)

After the Temple was built, Jews traveled to Jerusalem to celebrate Passover as they were commanded. Jesus’ parents traveled to Jerusalem yearly to celebrate Passover. When Jesus was 12, He amazed the religious teachers with His understanding at this festival. (Luke 2:41-50)

Every household was to inspect the lamb for four days before Passover to make sure it was perfect in every way. Jesus entered Jerusalem four days before His crucifixion and was examined before the religious leaders who could not find a flaw in Him. (John 19:4)

In the temple, at 9:00 am on the 14th day of Aviv, a lamb was tied to the horns of the altar. This was the day and the hour that Jesus was nailed to the cross. (Mark 15:25)

At 3:00 pm, the High Priest would slit the lamb’s throat and say, “It is finished!” This is the same time that Jesus died with His last words being “It is finished.” (John 19:30)

In preparing the lamb for the Passover meal, the book of Exodus commanded that the bones of the lamb could not be broken. Jesus’ legs were not broken to hasten death as was the custom at crucifixion. (John 19:33)

In each home, they were instructed to roast the lambs on a wooden spit. The intestines were to be taken out and put around the lamb’s head. They called the lamb a crowned sacrifice.(The wooden spit resembled the cross that Jesus was crucified on while wearing a crown of thorns. This was hundreds of years before the Romans introduced crucifixion.)

At the Seder meal, they set a place for Elijah. John the Baptist was born at Passover and Jesus said, “And if you are willing to accept it, he (John) is the Elijah who was to come.” (Matthew 11:14)

Coincidence? I don’t think so!

Jesus died as the Passover lamb to purchase our freedom. He was the Lamb that was, the Lamb that is, and the Lamb that is to come!

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. (John 8:36)

The Land Remembers

Kari BrowningBlog, Prophetic Words, Uncategorized

I am writing this blog from Germany where I am facilitating a seminar on “Releasing Toxic Emotions.” The technique I use involves the use of essential oils and I believe it is the restoration of James 5:14-16 from the Bible. It is a lost art that is being restored.

At my seminars, I show a video clip from a movie entitled “The Vision,” about the life of Hildegard von Bingham. Hildegard lived in Germany in the 1100’s. She was a Catholic nun who saw open visions, heard the audible voice of God, and worked miracles. She practiced and taught natural healing remedies, including music therapy, herbal treatments, and the use of dirt and stones to heal people. Her healing techniques were rooted in Scripture. Although she challenged the religious establishment of her day, the Catholic Church made her a Saint and named her as a Doctor of the Church. Her writings and teachings are still used today in the modern naturopathic world.

In Germany, over the years, natural medicine has been very well accepted. Many German physicians are experienced in using herbal medicines and other natural therapies. My naturopathic doctor traveled from the United States to Germany to be trained in different healing modalities and to buy some of her machines. I know several well-known ministers who have come to Germany and have been healed through the use of natural medicine at a Christian wellness center. I also have a friend, who is a medical doctor in South Africa, that came to Germany to be healed through “energy medicine” after she had exhausted everything medically available in her own country. She is now incorporating energy medicine techniques into her medical practice in South Africa.

Viva la Renaissance

The Renaissance was a period of time that began in the 14th century in Florence, Italy. It was marked by huge breakthroughs in the arts and in science.

Numerous scientists, artists, poets, and writers flourished during the Renaissance period, including William Shakespeare, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Galileo, among many others.

During this time, the printing press was invented in Germany. I recently visited Mainz, where Johannes Gutenberg was born in 1398. In the mid-1400’s, Gutenberg invented the printing press. He created the printing press in order to spread the Holy Bible in a more efficient manner. In the Middle Ages, there were very few books. The books that existed nearly all belonged to churches or universities, or to very rich people. They were written by hand and often had beautiful hand-painted pictures. They were so expensive that most people could not own them. Even if an ordinary person went to a church and looked at books there, they could not read them because they were mostly written in Latin. With the invention of the printing press, suddenly knowledge became available to thousands of people who never had it before.

It was also during the time of the Renaissance that the Protestant Reformation occurred. Martin Luther became an ordained priest in 1507 in the Roman Catholic Church in Germany. He had a revelation that salvation came through faith alone and not by works. He rejected several practices of the Catholic Church, including the practice of indulgences. On October 31, 1517, he defiantly nailed a copy of his 95 Theses to the door of the Wittenberg Castle Church and sparked the Protestant Reformation.

It was also during the time of the Renaissance, that the New World was discovered.

In 2010, we changed the name of our church from “Revolution Church” to “New Renaissance.” In 2012, we transitioned from being a traditional church to being a Healing and Creativity Center. We started experimenting with natural healing methods such as light therapy, sound therapy, and essential oils. It was during this time that I developed the technique I use to help people release toxic emotions using essential oils.

In March 2013, a young man named Jacob came to Coeur d’Alene to do a promotional video for a conference that I was going to speak at in Southern Idaho. Jacob was an expert on Idaho history. He told me a story that left me in awe.

He told me that in the 1800’s, an Italian Jesuit priest, named Father Anthony J. Ravalli, came to the Coeur d’Alene area from Italy to reach the Native Americans and to start a “new renaissance.” He built the Cataldo Mission, the oldest building in Idaho.

Anthony Ravalli was born in 1812 in a vibrant Renaissance city in Italy’s northern Emilia Romagna region. We established a Reggio-Emilia inspired preschool before I heard this story. The Reggio-Emilia model of education was founded near the area of Father Ravalli’s birth.

Father Ravalli was an artist, spiritual guide, sculptor, architect, builder, physician, pharmacist, and surgeon. He traveled miles to heal both body and soul of anyone who needed his help. He was known as the “Renaissance Man!”

When I heard this story, I was overwhelmed with such a sense of purpose and destiny. I realized “the land remembers” and we were continuing in Father Ravalli’s footsteps.

I believe we are in a time where we are seeing an EXPLOSION in the areas of art, science, and exploration much like what happened during the original Renaissance period. It is such an exciting time to be alive!

Tribal Identity

Kari BrowningBlog, Prophetic Words, Uncategorized

We have a God-given desire to be a part of a “clan” and to be a part of a family. Psalms 68:6 says: “God sets the lonely in families.”

There were twelve tribes of Israel. Although they were all part of one nation, each tribe had unique characteristics. Each tribe was blessed by Jacob and later by Moses. Each tribe received a different blessing in accordance with their individual purpose.

The High Priest wore a breastplate that was decorated with 12 precious stones. Each stone bore the name of one of the tribes. There were two shoulder straps that each had a stone with the names of six tribes engraved on each.

When traveling through the desert on their way to the Promised Land, they would travel and camp in a precise formation. The Tabernacle would be in the middle of the formation, while the twelve tribes would form a square surrounding it from all four sides, with three tribes on each side. The Levites would camp in the center, as it was their duty to assemble, disassemble and transport the Tabernacle.

Together they possessed the Promised Land and each received their portion.

We are going to be drawn to, and choose to identify with, different expressions in the Body of Christ. It is wonderful to find people who “speak our language” and who really understand us.

Perhaps you will identify with a “tribe” that is focused on grace and mercy, or faith, or prayer and contemplation, or evangelism, or spiritual warfare, or social justice, or prophetic ministry, or ascension and the mystical realm, or inner healing, or our Jewish roots, or teaching the Bible verse-by-verse, or revival and “signs and wonders.”

The “Cluster” Anointing

In 1998before starting a regional training centerI was given three prophetic words about having the “cluster anointing.” (The late Jill Austin gave me one of those words.) Later, I read that when the spies went into the Promised Land and brought back a big cluster of grapes, the place they found the grapes was called the Valley of Eshcol. The footnote in my Bible said that Eshcol means “cluster.”

Then they came to the Valley of Eshcol, and there cut down a branch with one cluster of grapes; they carried it between two of them on a pole. (Numbers 13:23)

In 1994, after moving to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on February 12, both my husband and I saw a vision of a white house with a turret. In 1997, a friend of mine (whose birthday is February 12) and I both had a similar dream the same night. We dreamed of a white Victorian house with a porch in front.

I had bought a book entitled “Radiant Glory.” After the vision of the house with a turret, the dream about the Victorian house, and three prophetic words about having the “cluster anointing,” I opened the book at random and saw a picture of the house we saw in the vision and in the dream. I was absolutely astonished when I read that it was on Eshcol Avenue (“cluster”) and it was on page 212 (February 12).

The book is about the life of Martha Wing Robinson. It is a biography of a relatively unknown woman who lived at the turn of the 20th century. She was healed of several illnesses under the ministry of John Alexander Dowie.

Mrs. Robinson was granted unusual access to the “mysteries of God.” Her teaching was accompanied by powerful demonstrations of all the gifts of the Holy Spirit. She established three “faith homes” in Zion City, Illinois. Thousands came from around the world to the homes in Zion City for teaching and prayer. Healings were a regular occurrence. Martha had a very strong gift of discernment and regularly told people the secrets of their hearts. She often had directive prophetic words for those who came. Many young people came to the home for training and then went to the mission field.

I have been to Zion City, Illinois, on two occasions and was able to visit the house on Eshcol Avenue!

“The New Wine is in the Cluster”

A woman who was living in another country, and who did not know about the prophetic words regarding the “cluster anointing,” was directed to make a beautiful banner that read “The new wine is in the cluster.” After spending months making it, the Holy Spirit told her it was for me!

At our regional training center, we had a different speaker from a different “tribe” every week for five years. Sometimes the speakers would contradict each other from week-to-week and I would say “the views expressed do not necessarily reflect the views of Grace Training Center.” I encouraged those who attended to be like the Bereans in Acts 17:11: “Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.”

Although we will identify with a certain “tribe,” it is always good to get out of our comfort zone and cross-pollinate with other expressions. We need each other.

Passion and Power of Pentecost

Kari BrowningBlog, Prophetic Words

John Paul Jackson once prophesied that God was going to restore “the passion of Pentecost” to the Church through a massive outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

John G. Lake was told to pray for this when he had an angelic visitation in 1920. The angel took the Bible and opened to the book of Acts. He called attention to the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost, and then proceeded through the book pointing out the great and outstanding revelations and phenomena in it. Then the angel spoke these words:

“This is Pentecost as God gave it through the heart of Jesus. Strive for this. Contend for this. Teach the people to pray for this. For this, and this alone, will meet the necessity of the human heart, and this alone will have the power to overcome the forces of darkness.”

The Biblical Festival of Shavuot (Pentecost)

The date of the Giving of the Law in Exodus, and the date of Pentecost in Acts 2, were the same date. Both of these events took place on the Biblical festival of Shavuot about 1,500 years apart and the same phenomena happened at both.

After the Jews left Egypt, Moses was told by God to gather the Israelites together at Mount Sinai to receive the Torah. They were told to sanctify themselves for three days. The entire people (three million) heard God speak. He didn’t just appear to Moses and give him the Ten Commandments in private.

We are told in Exodus 19:16-19 that on the morning of the third day there was thunder and lightning, with a thick dark cloud over the mountain, and they heard a very loud trumpet blast. Everyone trembled as they stood at the foot of the mountain and the mountain shook.

We are told by Rabbi Hertz, in the authorized Daily Prayer Book, page 791, that the entire world heard the voice of God at Sinai. The Divine voice divided itself into the 70 tongues then spoken on the earth.

We are told by Rabbi Moshe Weissman, in his book The Midrash Says, that the children of Israel not only heard the Lord’s Voice, but they actually saw the sound waves as they emerged from the Lord’s mouth. They visualized them as a fiery substance.

In Acts 2, we read when the day of Pentecost came that they were all together in one accord when they heard the sound of a mighty rushing wind and saw what seemed like “tongues of fire.” They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and started speaking in other tongues. There were Jews from every nation and they all heard the sound in their own language.

Peter stood and prophesied this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:

In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, Your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. ~Acts 2:17-18

After Peter’s sermon, 3,000 were saved and baptized. After the giving of the Law on Mount Sinai, 3,000 were killed in a plague after forming a golden calf to worship while Moses was up on the mountain for 40 days.

He has made us competent as ministers of a New Covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. ~ 2 Corinthians 3:6

On Shavuot in ancient Israel, two loaves of bread were waved before the Lord and the book of Ruth was read. Ruth was a Gentile convert to Judaism and was the great-grandmother of King David who, according to Jewish tradition, was born on Shavuot, and died on Shavuot. It is believed that the two loaves represent the Jewish and Gentile believers in Messiah.

For He himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. ~Ephesians 2:14-16

A Solemn Warning

“A body that seeks a corporate Pentecost must go through a burning and a purging according to Matthew 3:11.” ~ R Loren Sandford

I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. ~ Matthew 3:11

In the first century, Rabbi Akiva became the greatest rabbi of his generation with 24,000 students. He had 12,000 pairs of disciples and they all died between Passover and Shavuot from a God-sent plague. The reason given was because they did not treat each other with respect.

In 2002/2003, there were three conferences that were said to be a trilogy. At the first one, entitled “From Proclamation to Demonstration,” in Albany, Oregon, an angelic visitor appeared to Bob Jones with an important message for those seeking to witness creative miracles and the restoration of lost limbs and organs. The messenger emphasized that these signs and wonders would be demonstrated when “unity among the brethren” becomes reality. (Psalms 133) Unity is a more important issue to the Lord than most believers realize. If the Lord can find just a few who are willing to lay down their lives, plans, agendas, and ministries for their brothers and sisters He will transform cities and regions. It must be birthed in genuine love and fraternal affection. He pointed out that ambition among believers opens the door for suspicion; suspicion brings competition; and competition breeds division. When suspicion and competition are present, it will motivate leaders to discredit or undermine other leaders they feel threatened by. This kind of spirit cannot exist in the hearts of those to whom the Lord desires to release substantial spiritual power and authority. It will actually disqualify some if is not properly dealt with and submitted to the grace of God and the work of His Spirit.

Prior to the second conference in the trilogy series, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, entitled “Revelation Glory,” Bob Jones was given a clear vision. Paul Keith Davis said that he had never heard Bob as enthusiastic as he was in sharing this revelation. The vision began with him seeing a spiritual hourglass. He watched as the sand elapsed from the hourglass and it was clearly communicated that the time had now come for divine purposes to be established in the Pacific Northwest, “the land of beauty.” The Lord’s purpose was to establish BEAUTY and UNITY, but he also saw the enemy’s strategy. He saw “cyclone fences” that represented OFFENSES that would separate people.

The third conference in the series was in Shreveport, Louisiana, entitled “Restoring the Voice of Healing.” That was a term associated with the Latter Rain Revival. Years ago, I read a transcript from a meeting where Bob Jones said if we wanted to experience what they had in the Latter Rain Revival, the condition was Psalms 15. This passage of Scripture warns us not to cast a slur on our fellow man.

A Sign in the Heavens

In 2006, the same speakers returned to Coeur d’Alene (Bob Jones, Ray Hughes, Bobby Connor, Paul Keith Davis, Shawn Bolz, and Noel Alexander), along with the Albany and Shreveport pastors (Denny Cline and Timothy Carscadden) and we hosted an event we called “It’s Time, Releasing Apostolic Power.” At that event, Bob Jones prophesied that the heavens opened when a Native American man danced in full regalia to Jason Upton’s song “We are One in the Spirit.” He said there would be a sign in the heavens to confirm it. On PENTECOST weekend, a FIRE RAINBOW appeared that was so rare that it made international news.

This year Passover is from April 19-27, 2019. Shavuot (Pentecost) is 50 days later on June 9. (The time between these two festivals is called “the counting of the Omer.”) I encourage us to fast all negative talk and put away the “pointing of the finger,” as it tells us to do in Isaiah 58, so that our light and healing will come. Let’s purpose in our hearts to genuinely love and honor one another so that we can experience the PASSION AND POWER OF PENTECOST!
